Type 2 My Average FBG

It might give you a bit of an idea as to what to possibly expect from your next a1c... keep in mind that meters do have a certain degree of inaccuracy, but you'd get an idea. I would do it, just to see what how it compares with your next a1c.

Well if you work out the average it will give you a rough idea of where you are heading. 90 days averages would be better as that is the same time period as the HbA1c.
It also depends on the accuracy of the meter you are using. I use the Accu Chek Mobile which is fairly accurate, and it gave me a fairly close estimate of my HbA1c result - see my signature below.

My spreadsheet calculates the averages I want and a 3 monthly FBG average on the day blood is taken for an Hba1c is a good guide, for me, as to what the result is likely to be. It also helps me not to panic too much about blips!

I do a monthly average and a 3 monthly average which seems to work best for me. The monthly one helps me decide if I need to make tweaks to what I'm eating!

Most users seem to think that the SD codefree is not so accurate, usually reading on the high side. I use the Accu Chek Mobile which most users have said is quite accurate, perhaps reading slightly low. But the test cartridges are dearer, I think they work out at about £80 for 200 tests through 'official' suppliers. but you can get them cheaper on ebay at present, but those might dry up as they are probably being sold by people who get NHS prescriptions and the NHS will be ceasing prescriptions for Accu Chek because of the higher cost. I only test once a day so I am prepared to pay more.
But people who are testing several times a day find it is more econmical to use the SD Codefree.

I found the contour next meter and strips reading slightly high but then got a pleasant surprise with my lowest ever HBA1C last month.

I too will have to rethink when the cheap ebay prescribed test strips dry up but I am loving the new contour bluetooth meter/smartphone app that does all the averages for me and will hopefully keep me motivated to test.

Hopefully, the NHS changes will encourage the big companies to lower their prices.

One very important point to remember if you want to compare your own test averages with your (potential) HbA1c is that you are just taking a few "spot checks" over the course of a day (unless you're using something like a Libre sensor), and the HbA1c is taking the average over the whole time into consideration, so if you've missed highs (or lows) then the results could be way out.

My glucose levels are fairly stable and I always get a higher HbA1c than my tests predict, but it generally tends to be fairly consistent.

Our main diabetes.co.uk site has a converter that you can use, but treat it as a guide and don't necessarily rely on it!

PS My meter is what I rely on to tell me how well I'm managing. My HbA1c just gives me one three or six monthly figure which contains little or no real information for me, but makes my GP and Diabetic nurse happy or otherwise...

My Contour Next meter gives me 7, 14, 20 and 90 day average split into fasting, pre & post meal, and overall results. I can also set myself target ranges and it also provides figures for numbers of test results within, above and below these ranges. And allows me to add various pre-set notes to each test result. It's computer software can give me more details when I upload the data, but the meter itself is generally sufficient in itself.

With the excellent FBG you are posting in your signature...I wouldn't worry too much about the HbA1c.
