My Doctor Wants To See Me!

You do know that statins typically raise blood glucose and can even cause type 2? (It usually explains this ont he leaflet). That‘s as well as their benefits being increasing questioned for those without prior cvd history. Cholesterol is essential and going low carb and higher fat usually lowers it rather than raise sit making the statins no longer required even by standard advice.

In the big scheme of things 49 isn’t much higher than 47 which takes me out of the Type 2 bracket.
Small changes should suffice in your case. I've met posters who had HbA1c's in the mid-50s who weren't diagnosed & were given 3 months to turn it around, all depends on the practice.

Lab tolerance could be +/- 5% so I wouldn't get too hung up on 50 vs 49.
Good news is that you understand how to reduce carbs.
Muesli is kryptonite for diabetics, see also porridge.
