Hi there friends! I have found this wonderful forum in the last week and have already posted and received with much thanks some wonderful replies, thank you!

I just wanted to let you all know my story. I found out last week that I have T2..I had gestational diabetes 10 years ago with my third and last pregnancy. I was told then that I would have to really look after my diet and loose some weight which I never really did and look where I am now...I would not class myself as obese, I am 43 and weigh around 83kgs, I work at a laundry and am on my feet all day. I also run after an 18 yr old, 15 yr old and 10 yr old.

I began to think that there may be something going on as I suffered from recurrent thrush last year but I thought no couldnt be but the idea was in the back of my mind. Went to doc in late Sept last year and he advised me to have the fasting blood sugar which is took me almost 6 months to do as I was so scared. Anyway after another case of thrush recently I decided that I needed to know and the rest is history.

There are moments when I feel that I will able to cope and then there are times when I could just crawl into a hole and die!!!Sorry but sometimes I just feel such absolute devastation with this diagnosis. I hope in time I will come to terms with this. I am so very scared of complications, as I am still so young...

Anyway it is late here in Australia, must try to get some sleep. Thanks so much good people for listening. I will pop in tommorow morning.

Sandra, coming here has saved your health and life. I'm sad that all diabetics don't get handed the URL for this place along with their first prescription.

Welcome
