Hi,
Well for the past 3 days something is not right with my sugar levels during the night!
I go to bed with around 6.5 and when it's around 1am the sugar levels are already 10.5 and then in the morning it's about 13 to 17
I already tried to take a shut of novorapit 1 unit and even 2 units last night but it doesn't go down...when I take my breakfast it goes back to normal and it keeps under control the all day!
Any ideas?!!!
coz otherwise I will have to stay awake during the night to keep it under control
Claudia, some things to think about.
Sorry, if you've already considered them.
Have you altered the timing or amount of your evening meal ( If it's late or quite fatty that could account for higher levels in the early morning)
Have you altered the timing of your basal insulin? If you take particularly levimir, once a day in the mornings it may be 'running out'
Have you done less exercise than usual? Personally if I haven't done any for a few days I will find levels more likely to rise over night.
Are you worrying about anything, stress and sleepless nights don't help?
Lastly you may be developing a 'bug'. It's amazing how many people write that they are having problems with glucose levels and then find that they have a cold or something.
Another couple to add to Phoenix list of considerations..
Have you changed the type of meal you've eating for you evening meal!
High protein, high fat or foods like pasta can impact on the blood glucose a lot later than one thinks!
Perhaps do some basal testing overnight on a couple, avoid foods such as high fat, protein and pasta for your evening meal, so you are getting lagged impact from these, then test every hour to see what the basal is up to!
The thing that it's woring me is that I was ill 2 weeks ago with an urinary infection but GP gave me antibiotic and the levels went back to normal. Now, everything has been ok and during the day it's under control, I didn't change my route or my meals and while I had the infection I couldn't get the levels below 10 during day and night but now the problem is only night time...
My HBA1C IS 52 or 6.8% and I am so affraid that it will be affected by this...but I am trying my best to keep it under control, even waking in the middle of the night to check it!!!! :?
Hi Claudia,
just another thought for you, many people find the clocks changing alters their insulin needs. So perhaps it's a just a case of needing a little move basal.
Hope you find your answer soon.
