Oooh and Yuk! The thought of a photo is horrific!!!!... All cameras are banned when i am in swimwear!!:***: LOL.i think there are some great tips above* and whilst the internet is full of keto miracle stories of losing 12 stone in a year, most people's loss isn't continual or linear but should continue eventually. Excess fat weight is the symptom and not the cause of metabolic disease which has taken years to develop,
*e.g. exercise to build metabolism (big compound moves that use most muscle groups are great but get help if you are unsure how). Keep cardio short and intense but keep doing long slow walks/swims or start with those if you aren't already doing weights.
And counting to ensure bad habits aren't sneaking in with regards to carbs
Not drinking calories e.g. butter coffee or overdoing easily overeaten moreish foods such as cheese and nuts
The occasional fast or One Meal A Day to kickstart things again and not just because you are eating less.
Weight is fickle so try looking at qualitative measures of health such as blood pressure, waist size at your narrowest point between ribs and hips, blood trig/hdl ratio s.
A photo can tell you lots re progress too (try full body in swimwear front on and sideways)
Forget the speedo s then and go for a head shot to see the changes!Oooh and Yuk! The thought of a photo is horrific!!!!... All cameras are banned when i am in swimwear!!:***: LOL.
I took another reading later, before dinner and as you say it was very different.. down to 4.0. I am leaving the next test until just before lunch, so a fast for 16 hours ( but i did have 2 black teas with Candarel during the fast).
My goal at the moment is to lose weight, and at the same time stop all sugar ( apart from a once every 2 months small treat). I still have not got my head around what I can and can't eat to stay balanced, so am just not eating carbs or sugar and eating above ground green veg and meat, with tea and candarel... The eating loads of meat and fat is concerning, so i am already cutting down on the fat.
Also, the Ozempic is helping as my appetite is much reduced, but came back noticeably just before the next dose.
You are absolutely spot on re the scales, however, clothing is a great indicator for me..My 7kg loss in the first week did not look so visible, but when i tried on a few jackets that i have not got into for a year or so, they fit!!!...Forget the speedo s then and go for a head shot to see the changes!
As a trainer I know the scales aren't a great indicator of your actual 'fatness' so all I am saying is try not to let them be your only judge of success. It concerns me a little that you are relying on oxempic as an appetite suppressant rather than trusting yourself to fill up on good stuff. On the other hand I hear it is very popular for just the reason you describe so can understand why you'd use it whilst getting into a new way of eating perhaps - a stepping stone.
That is very encouraging for me, however i have already skipped the breakfasts and lunch and have stalled after the first week with a loss of 7kg..this week... 0.5kgI had a similar stall, towards the end of May, followed @bulkbiker advice in that I have more or less stopped eating breakfast since then, and have dropped another 18lb on the back of that, still have a lot to lose, bu I am learning to be patient !
Weight loss is not linear and it is often said that metabolic healing comes first before weight loss in those us us that are type 2 or close to it. If i didn’t eat enough I stalled. If I didn’t drink enough water I stalled. Some weeks I just stalled. Others I lost and I didn’t expect to.That is very encouraging for me, however i have already skipped the breakfasts and lunch and have stalled after the first week with a loss of 7kg..this week... 0.5kg
Very interesting.. It would be good if there was a way to monitor what i was dong right and what i was doing wrong to lose weight... So far all i can check is my Glucose levels. I have lost 7kg un the first week and 1kg in the second, so heading in the right direction but stalled in the 2nd week. That said i feel so much better having lost that weight and just need to do lose another 30kg.Weight loss is not linear and it is often said that metabolic healing comes first before weight loss in those us us that are type 2 or close to it. Glucose levels are going up and down a bit but only slightly.. Lowest was 4.6, highest was 5.8 end of the second week, and now 5.5.What are your glucose levels doing? Are you having smaller rises after meals? Has the morning reading improved?
In deed. 1 kg is not to be sniffed at!....And a big bonus is that i notice i am getting into jackets, shirts and trousers that have not fit for the last year or so!.5 a kilo is still a 1lb loss, that’s a normal weight loss per week once you’ve had the fast “flush” of water weight etc. really it’s normal to lose weight at a steady slower pace. Sometimes we lose inches rather than weight, it pays to measure yourself or like me go by your clothing
Is this morning fasting levels? they look quite reasonable to me. Throughout the day they will go up and down, possibly by loads if food isn’t ideal. They won’t be precisely the same, anything within a mmol is pretty much the same and fasting takes the longest to get where you want it.Glucose levels are going up and down a bit but only slightly.. Not sure what you mean by fasting levels? I don't eat anything after dinner or before I do my test after I wake up... I then generally have a cuppa, and then a tiny nibble around lunch time, and i mean tiny... Then dinner, after which i take a measurement 2 hours after finishing eating. As i consume more or les nothing during the day apart from a few cups of black tea with Stevia, i figured that it would not have gone up, and on the odd occasion where i have tested before dinner, it had generally gone a bit lower. Am i doing this right, or should i test before meals too? I try to aim for 22 hours no food, except maybe a nibble of cheese or quarter of a slice of ham, and a few cups of black tea with stevia. Is this morning fasting levels? they look quite reasonable to me. Are you testing before and after any meals?
By morning fasting I mean the one you do after you wake and before you eat. I was just trying to understand when the tests you quote happened in relation to what part of the day and where in relation to meals etc.Not sure what you mean by fasting levels?
