Not being able to eat deserts :)
Had a belated Christmas lunch with colleagues, mixed Chinese food off the fixed menu and a few glasses of Sancerre. Get home after a 20 minute walk from the station and reading on a Free style light meter is 4.8. Take my metformin and decide randomly one hour later to check my reading and it is now 8.0? I thought the window for increases was two hours but this is now some 4 hours after the event. Thoughts any one?

Fat slows down your carb burn, happens terribly with pizzas too

Plus alcohol can drop your bg, maybe it was wearing off by then

>> OK I'm bored with this now, not you I hasten to add. One hour further on and back to 5.9. Mind you I suspect the Metformin has kicked in. Interesting what you said and I think I need to do some serious testing in relation to the effects of alcohol and how it supresses sugar level reading. More drinking to test this theory out. lol i come from a long line of abusive alcoholics, i would not be advising anyone to drink bg or no bg
 
you would be better off using your strips on your food and avoiding the drink imho
