My BG levels are all over the place at the moment. Whilst I have not taken the best care of myself in the past I am now worried. I have recently been made redundant and the stress this and other personal issues has caused is becoming unbearable and clearly have an effect. I don't sleep well now and I don't think this helps. My readings can easily reach 30 and I'm not quite sure what to do as I'm certain the stress is causing the increase.

hi, you dont say what meds you are on, if u tell us we may be able to help also in the meantime can u check your ketones? if u feel unwell plz seek medical advice as things can quickly get bad

I take insulin 3 times daily and once for night time. I know the high readings are not because of what I am eating so this is why I don't know how to handle it.

Even though food may not be the culprit, you blood glucose will still need correcting..

As you sadly been made redundant not only the stress that this causes will effect your control, but so will the change of routine also have an impact..

So your insulin regime will need to be adjusted to suit..

Where to adjust is difficult to say, as you will need to look at both your background insulin and your quick insulin, your carb ratio for your insulin..

I would give your diabetic clinic a bell Monday morning, have some your BG readings etc to hand, as they may well be able to give you some advice over the phone, also ask for a clinci appointment ASAP...

As from what you are saying, it sounds as that you don't carb count so that you can adjust your quick acting to suit what you are eating! Of cause I may have got this wrong and I apoligise if I have..

But do ask the clinic to be put on there carb counting cause as soon as possible though, as these are very good sadly if your clinic does the DAFNE course and not there own version, there will be quite a wait until you can go..

Not many benefits of being out of work, but a bit more time available might mean you could get on a DAFNE course, if offered in your area? Worth asking when you speak with your diabetes team - hope you've already made contact?
