Hi, I have type 1 diabetes, since I was 25, I am now 43, I have put weight on, and want to get back down to 8stone, instead of being 10 stone, I do carb count, as this makes it easier for me to manage my blood sugars... For the last month I decided to try the slim fast diet, it's the one where you have the slim fast drink, and a sensible meal, plus fruit in between as a meal or snack, I have counted the carbs in the shake, and yet I still go hypo.... So desperate to lose weight, any ideas on what I can do instead??
Sorry how rude of me, let's start again, hi everyone, this is my first time on here, my name is Mandy xx

Cut out bread, cut out sugar and exercise more. I used to weigh 18 stone now im down to 12 and im 6ft 4.

Hi @Mandy 72
sorry for the late welcome to the forum
i have been trying to lose weight recently and I don't find it easy so you are not alone there.

First thing I would do is revisit basal testing -- link here http://www.salforddiabetescare.co.uk/index2.php?nav_id=1007
this will help to determine if your bolus doses are too high for the food you are consuming or if your background insulin is too high.

also i hope you are testing loads to see if you can establish any patterns in the hypo's .
one of the things that has helped me is to eat a lower carb diet and eating things like omelettes with cheese and ham ( no carbs) has reduced my daily bolus doses .
