Hi,

I have been pumping for two years now and always used sites in my stomach area.

Just lately I have been having a lot of failed sites. I think maybe that area is suffering from overuse although I do rotate sites.

I can't use area above navel as too uncomfortable for me. So tried upper arm which was fine to begin with but soon became uncomfortable.

I should say that I use silhouettes at the moment and am quite slim.

I have ordered some Mios and sure Ts and am going to try them. Maybe a 90 degree set will help but have never had much luck with quicksets.

You can use anywhere you would inject with a syringe, I've seen infusions set positioned on the side at the back, back hip area, goodness knows how the reached that far around, I know I couldn't.. Basically has long as it got fat layer...

But as you say you are slim, have you double checked that the failur's you'll suffereing aren't because the cannular is getting kinked because it touching the muscle underneath the fat layer?? This is more common with 90 degree sets, but can happen with the 45 degrees as well, if the cannular is near enough to the muscle it can restrict the flow of insulin, and the pressure built up with the restricted flow can also cause an occulsion..

Another thing is to check batch numbers, as it could be a dodgy batch (not unknow with the silhouetes) so give customer services a phone with the batch numbers...

I use a telfon cannular as it more flexiable which helps prevent kinks of the cannular when it hits or contacts with the muscle

i use my legs back and recently bum. use bum so i can put pump round back when i playing cricket so it dont get hit with the hard ball. I'm lean and not restricted it seems to fatty deposits

Sorry to jump someone elses post, I use my lower "tummy" area, left side 2 days then right side 2 days and its normally fine - but every now and then I hit a vein ? and its very painfull and when I then remove my canula it bleeds like mad - please note this only occurs very rarely - but I will try some of the sites mentioned , - but where do you keep your pump when using the upper arm ???

Hi and thanks for replies,

I think there may be something in what one of you said about a duff batch of silhouettes so have stopped using them. I have been having problems for a while and was halfway through second box with same batch number.

My delivery of Mio's arrived and once I had figured out how to use it I gave them a try. No problems so far.

I am going to try the sure Ts in the top of my arm,hen I did it before I found that the tubing was still long enough to keep my pump clipped to centre of bra or pocket on shirt/blouse, but probably not long enough to wear it on belt. I have some lumpy areas on both arms and tops of legs from injecting insulin years ago so will have to avoid those areas. Will let you know how I get on.
