Could I have neuropathy? I have been a type 2 for 8 years, currently on Byetta, 1/2 Gliclazide and 4 Metmorfin daily, use of Byetta has been very successful have lost 3 stone and by bs are now 6.5.

Just recently I have been getting a dull pain in the ball of my left foot, when walking or just sitting around, even when I have just got out of bed. It doesn't go away. I am seeing my ~D. Specialist this month and will mention it to her, just thought I'd ask the question

Have you mentioned this to your GP,Stuart? I'm sure your GP or Specialist will do some tests to see how sensitive your foot is to stimulus.

Hi, am seeing my Doctor this Friday so will enquire. Am to have another retinal examination also on Friday, this will be my 2nd in a very short space of time, I had one in December at the Opticians because I was getting blurred vision and needed my specs updated, then I have received a letter from the Surgery to say I have to go for another this Friday.

My name is Pauline and I wish you all the best for this year.

Neuropathy is usually symmetrical so if it's only one foot it's unlikely, I'd see your doctor or podiatrist

Good luck!
let us know how it goes

is there anything that can be taken to ease the symptoms or improve neuropathy?

The most important thing is to get and keep your BG and BP down

Secondary to that, this seems to work for many but not all people

There are plenty of things to mask the symptoms without affecting the cause, ranging from various painkillers through certain antidepressants to antispychotic meds (the latter two affect nerve transmission and help block the pain signals) and including such things as Lyrica

I am on metformin and l have noticed that l get tingling feet mostly at night and it keeps me awake at night. Have been to my GP but is not very helpful and l just don't know what to do anymore, sometimes when l am travelling in a car on long journeys l get it and it is most uncomfortable. So any advice would be greatly accepted as my husband works different hours and it keeps him awake at night tossing and turning.

Hi M3fed and welcome to the forum.

What are your blood sugar levels like at the moment, and what have they been in the past? I appreciate that you are concerned about neuropathy, but this normally occurs after a prologned period of excessively high blood sugars.

Hi, i wrote recently asking if I might have neuropathy.

well saw my GP today, she says i have either tightened tendons in the ball of my foot or she did say another name which is related to diabetes, not neuoropathy.

this could take 6 - 12 months to ease but will never be better. so I now have to take paracetemol every time I go walking, this is every day before I go to work and at weekends.

also have some ibroprufen to rub in.

gosh it is painful.

If it's a problem with tendons, would pysiotherepy help? I have short/tight (can't remember what they said exactly!) tendons in my ankles and was told streching exercises would help.

yes, have to see a physio. my bs's currently stand at between 5.2 and 6.4 so my diabetes is okay, so must keep up with the walking, which I enjoy. She advised I see a chiropodist also so making an appointment today,

Since going onto Byetta a year ago I have lost 2.5 stone and am now back to my target weight, then another blip comes along.

have a good day.

Tendon and other connective tissue problems seem to be associated with diabetes - but like a lot of things they should improve with BG control
