Hi every one,

Firstly I am feeling really unwell with a very heavy cold and chest infection, not eating because I keep being sick and I can't find meter! given uo my insulin until I find my meter my fear of low runs higher than my fear of highs. Have to hunt for it tomorrow! My wrist, hand and fingers are so so painful. Looks likes I'm stuck with this pain forever.
Any one found anything that helps neuropathy.

Jo

Jo, so sorry to hear that you are not feeling so good, but the best thing that you can do for neuropathy is get that blood glucose under control and right down to non-diabetic levels.

So please find that tester, use your insulin, adjust your diet, and get the help that you so badly need/deserve, you posted in another thread that you have been uncontrolled since 2002, high time to do something about it, please dont ignore diabetes, you are at risk of developing complications that you might not be able to reverse, please Jo, dont even go there, this is very serious, PLEASE take action.

All the best

Hi Jo,
Karen is absolutely right. By giving up on your insulin you are just making your neuropathy far, far worse. You need to get your blood sugars down and unfortunately a cold and chest infection won't be helping as they also have a tendency to raise BS levels. So even more reason for you to check your levels and get using that insulin again.

If you need advice on how to get your blood sugar under control then just ask and one of us will try to help you. But we can't do it for you.

I know no one can do it for me, unfortunately Drs say my insulin resistance is so high they are at a loss of what to do other than keep upping the insulin, they say that because of the HS contol will be very hard because of the infections. I could have drastic surgery on the groin and arm pits but because they are all infected and the sugars are out of control this would not be a good option. Dr says I'm in a catch 22 situation....this helps me how?
feeling rough, been looking for my meter most of the day.....will have to get a new one I think!

Jo, tell what do you eat? Write down a typical days menu, and yes, you need to find your tester asap, now you dont even know what your bg is and you say you dont inject, you are going backwards there.

I know you said before the doctors dont know how to treat you, so I am saying it again, get a second opinion, and fast too, its difficult because of the skin infection but there must be something that can be done for you to help you get well again.

I am not surprised that you feel like giving up and just not bothering anymore, this situation has gone on for far too long, so come on girl, lets make a start, find the tester or failing that get a new one, then write down what you actually eat during the day, do you take any supplements? Any self help in regards to the HS?

Thinking of you

Not much of a typical day wher eating is concerned because of the reflux.
Don't usually do breakfast but if I do it tends to be a yogurt.
Lunch tends to be home made veg soup and a slice of bread or slice of toast and marmite
evening 1 small potato lots of veg and a meat or fish
snacks
fruit banana, melon or mango
yougurt
rich tea biscult
occasional crisps
Drinks 3 coffees
gallons of water

I suppose at the end of the day I have pretty much given! up been banging my head against a brick wall for a long time now.
Spent a long time feeling I must be doing something wrong as other people get great control, gone through things openly with diabetes team and dietition. Spent a week in hospital to try to sort out some control......no better there.
They say if the reflux was better controlled and I managed to keep my medication down more often then that would help.
I did keep going back to the Dr to be told the same thing time and time again.

I am on antibiotics all the time for my HS, also have skin lotions and hibisrub for washing. HS is something I am stuck with, not had any remission from it for over 10 years.

Mobility is not to hot with the pain from the HS and the arthritus in my spine.

In the end I know it will be the complications from the diabetes that will finish me off, I am rather doomed.

Neoropathy in hand is nearly as bad as the abscess pain.
Still playing hunt the meter or tomorrow it will be a new one.

Sorry you are feeling so unwell leadingjo, I am too if that is any consolation :?:

You said you have bad reflux - I take 40mg of Omeprazole daily for mine, and haven't had any reflux problem since (touch wood).

I'm on 40mg am and 40mg pm for the reflux also on anti emetics, I am on controlled drugs for pain relief. I have constant thrush because of the uncontrolled sugars. I have high blood pressure.
Been to the GP this morning as I have another sinus infection.
Got to go for another fasting blood test next month, a diabetic check and astma check. GP once again told me what harm the diabetes is doing to my body! this helps me how???
I said what do you want me to do?? She says that I'm not compliant and do not take my medication! I asked where she got that from! oh she said do you then! I told her once I stopped insulin for 2 days over a year ago, and stopped for 24 hrs this week. Medication issues have been because of sickness not because I haven't bothered to take the medication. If I wanted to finish myself off I can think of much less painful ways to die.
I have never felt that they worry about my diabetes as much as I do now maybe this is why! At one point in my life I went through a period of depression and tried to take my life, since I did that and got help I have felt labelled for life. I just want a day feeling well.
I am trying to eat in the mornings but thats quite hard.

I don't want to sound glib, but have you tried fasting, it seems to be the way to go. i certianly have found it very good. I have sore hands and feet too.
