Type of diabetes
Type 2
a collegue at work who is type 2 has recently had trouble maintaining blood sugars and they have dropped fairly quickly. he went to the doctors had blood tests ect, but has come away confused. doctor has said something about g6pt enzyme? and liver is storing glucose. does any one know about either of these. I cannot advise as im just standard type 2 no additional concerns. in the office today we have tried good old google but its not making much sense.

The Liver stores glucose, that is one of it's main functions, and releases it when your BG is low.

A deficiency in the Enzyme you mention leads to Glucagon Storage Disease, which means that the normal production of glucagon and release of glucose by your organs is inhibited.

I should also add his sugars used to be around 12. but over last few weeks are staying around 3.8-5.5 at the most. apart from headaches and light headedness he said he feels fine.

do you know how serious it is? and how is it treated? will it affect his treatment of type 2 diabeties?
I'm sorry - I don't have any helpful knowledge beyond having heard of it myself so was able to locate a bit of info on it to get you started.
I would think that your colleague should get back to his GP with his queries all written down and prepared to try and get the answers he needs.

all the best !!

Not 100% sure, but I think I've heard of slow release starches being used for this? There is a product called Generation UCan or Super Starch. Might be worthwhile checking into it.
