New BG monitor, Contour Next One, help needed please

Hi, I have just been diagnosed with T2, and before my first meeting with the Diabetic Nurse, I have started dieting and exercising and want to test my blood regularly. I have ordered a contour next one and have the app on my phone, The app is confusing as I dont have the monitor yet to test with. My question is how easy is it to make sense of the results using the app? Is there any guidance on results? Thanks for looking
 
Hi Neman

I use this monitor. I did download the app onto my phone but found it drained the battery too much. I now have the app on my iPad and it works ok. It was easy to make the link between my iPad and the meter

It lets you see how your levels are doing in graph form. Once you have your meter and made the connection between your phone and the meter your readings will transfer and you will start to see patterns

Once you get the meter and pair it with your phone, you will then get data sent by blue tooth.
 
Well my first test is 5.5 before a meal, so now to wait for a couple of hours

Yes h884, pairing took 30 seconds and that was it. Very easy. As soon as test completed the result was on the phone, put in my meal details on the app, very easy and nice and simple.

Got sent a "Free" one of these meters (compettion) THEN looked at price of test strips, DOUBLE the price of my NHS issued CareSENS dual, so I think I will stick with that as the app is great. Given the cost of these strips I wonder why this site allows advertising of the "FREE" draw ?

I hate being ripped off or being treated like a fool...................
 
Fair point, but like I meant to say happy to get free stuff, its just you need to watch for the catches, that was my point. It will be kept for "emergencies" and the idea of comparison with my standard machine makes sense (although I do have a supply of control fluid given free by manufacturer) It just seems they are giving machines away in the hope that people will buy/NHS will fund these double priced strips................ I wonder if they would care to explain the extra cost?

I have a Next One which I got free, and the strips are subsidised for T2 diabetics through the NDSS at $1.20 per 100 box. To buy over the counter here they are approx $65.00 per 100 box which is the going price at my pharmacy for all of the test strips they sell.
