Hi, I'm Rosemary, 29F and I found out yesterday that I'm pre-diabetic. Just want to say hi I guess & hopefully connect with others on here as well as find out if there are many others in my age group here. I'm determined to reverse it but am kind of overwhelmed by it at the moment. I'm probably not going to tell many people irl about it bc I don't want to deal with the stigma, so, I'll be active in this community instead. Anyways, hi!

Hi Rosemary, You have come to right place, there are so many knowledgeable folk on here, so just take your time, read the information, ask any questions and be kind to yourself.

Welcome to the forums.

Welcome to the forum Rosemary
we all feel overwhelmed and a little lost when first diagnosed.
I think the first thing you need to get your head round is the fact that no matter what you've seen or read, you did not do this to yourself. Your insulin has stopped being very effective at dealing with the carbs in your diet. Those carbs when digested get turned into glucose that your body has trouble using. If the media is to be believed and we have in fact done this to ourselves. How does that explain the many people with T2 who are not overweight and that most overweight people do not have T2 ?
Oh, and if you don't want to share your private/confidential medical details with people around you then don't, it's got nothing to do with them

Hello and welcome. I'm a recent joiner too, and you are absolutely in the right place for excellent information and support.

Hi Rosemary

I'm with you ..I've just been diagnosed T2 and am the same not told many people...the very few close people I have told have been SO supportive though especially around losing weight....and my family have all taken the wake up call and got their blood sugar/cholesterol etc tested...and one of them is pre diabetes so I feel good having helped alert them earlier than me. Don't rush it but once you feel comfortable you might feel able to share a little. As above absolutely no reason why you should though and feel free not to! Good luck xxx
