Hi All my daughter of 12years went for her annual diabetes check in April and i was told NICE have changed the guidlines for the range there glucose levels
should be its now between 4.0 and 6.9mmol, i find this asking abit to much to expect a child to stay within these level especially when they are at a age where hormones
are racing around there bodies. Then i was very concerned when the dietrian tried to tell me if my daughter has a snack before bed she should do insulin for it, but the diabetics nurse have always said not to give insulin before bed unless they need a correction dose. I told the dietrian this will cause a HYPO in the night, she replied
Its very unlikely a child will HYPO during the night what a ridiculious thing to come out with surely she must know its not cos of there age they HYPO it because
they have to much insulin. I also have been a type 1 diabetic for over 30 years so i think i know, i told her i will not inject my daughter with insulin before bed especially when her bedtime levels are between 4.1 and 6.1mmol.
I get really annoyed with these hospitals sometimes and the information they give out especially a dietrian.
