New pump.... new diagnosis in the family!

So.. I am practicing with a dummy pump for a week before the real one is started...

I left the clinic to visit my mum who works here who asked me to test her sugar as she was feeling unwell... 18.7 with ketones my her urine test.

Not sure how I am feeling about it. I want to rush around her a make it stop! But I can't.

I know you know this but.... your mum needs to get to her GP quickly !!

Good advice @himtoo, but I'd probably be going to A&E with BG that high with ketones as a non-diabetic...

@pearceam, am I right in assuming your Mum has not yet been diagnosed as a diabetic?

Crazy couple of days.... new diagnosis of type 1! Very unexpected. But then, isn't it always!!

She's feeling much better after a short admission.

Everyone feeling a bit shell shocked. But I have a guilty feeling because I'm glad I have someone so close who now knows how I feel! Not that I'd wish it upon anyone.

My heart sank for you just now!
I often think.. if my brother/sister/son were diagnosed with T1 i would be really upset..although it cant be helped but as we know what it's like you wouldn't wish it upon anyone as you said! Hope your mum is ok.. and now you can both deal with this together! Hugs to both of you!
