Not sure where to post this, so happy to have it moved if appropriate.

I'm still trying to get my head around the new Forum, so gradually getting to understand most of it. Still not sure of difference between "active" and "well known" members!

Two Questions:

1. Am now wondering about all these new "staff members".

What do they do and how do they arrive here? Being pedantic about liking to know how organisations work, some explanation of structure and membership would be useful.

2. Is there anyway of signalling new posts/members we think might be old "trolls" (I hope I'm catching on correctly to the language) trying again, so that innocent, helpful people don't respond? At the moment I'm wondering about the Scuba diving post.

Thanks in advance for any help offered,

Jane.

Hi Jane!

We have a couple of different 'staff' ranks on the forum.

The names you see in purple, such as @charlotte.summers and @Tj Singh are people who are members of the Diabetes.co.uk team. The team includes web developers, content writers etc. they may not post on the forum often, but do like to read around the forum and take an interest in what's going on here.

The names in orange (like mine) are Administrators. Admin roles are pretty self-explanatory so I won't bother giving you all the details!

Blue names like @anna29 are senior moderators - the role of a senior moderator is to help keep the moderator team going and to intervene in situations where others may not feel confident enough to do so.

Green names like @daisy1 are global moderators - the role of a general moderator is to take care of posts that are reported by users that break the forum rules, as well as to help new users find their feet in the forum setting.

As for the troll posts you refer to - if you believe someone is here purely as a troll, please send me a private message and I will investigate further

The 'active' and 'well known' members are automated titles given out to those who have reached a certain milestone in collecting trophy points. Here is a list of the current titles and minimum trophy points required for each:

New Member - 0
Member - 5
Active Member - 25
Well-Known Member - 45

I'll probably be adding more of these as we add more trophies. You can find out which trophies are available and how to obtain them here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/help/trophies
