Hi Everyone, I've been diagnosed T2 for 6 yrs. Can't tolerate most oral meds and been muddling along on Byetta and Repaglinide for the past 3 years. Unfortunately it's no longer working for me and I am about to go back onto insulin. I had tried it before Byetta and gained a pound a week :-(

Would be very grateful for any advice you might have about limiting weight gain on insulin. Thanks

Hi Suze and welcome to the forum Although I don't have any experience about insulin and the effect on weight, I thought it might help you to go back to basics, even though you have had type 2 for 6 years, and see how this information could help you. This is advice written for new members to the forum and the diet information may help you. I hope you get some answers from experienced members to your question, and if you need to ask any more questions then just go ahead as someone usually knows the answer.

hi and welcome,
i personally havent had a problem with weight gain, in fact i lost 5 stone since on it ,everybody is different so as long as u eat healthily and exercise weight gain isnt forced to happen

Hi,
I was having lots of problems and gaining weight and my bloods were 8.8.
I joined Slimming world and Walking for Health and am now heading for 3 stone lighter and my bloods are 5.1 I eat a good healthy diet including pasta rice and potatoes but what works for me is a very easy to remember rule :- ) one third of my plate super free vegetables, one third rice ,pasta or potatoes and one third meat or fish. I also dont use fat or oil just a low cal spray (frylight). I even have a glass or two of wine so I am no angel but for me its eating healthily and moderate exercise that works together. I was not well 2 weeks ago and didnt walk and I gained a pound. I walked it off again the next week so it is the combination that works for me. I have halved my meds and hope to be off the lot by Christmas. So basically you have to experiment and find what works for you, lots of ideas on the forums, I read my eyes out when first diagnosed and tried several different things until I found what suited me. Keep trying you will get there, good luck. Jools
