Been T2 for 14 years and reasonably well controlled. Came off Metformin last year and put on to sitagliptin. Levels now around 13/14 . GP says nothing else left to try due to my cardiac and kidney issues. He says insulin is all that's left, is this true?
If the G.P. is concerned about your cardiac and kidney issues then that does limit the medication that is available to you. I expect that is why you had to stop using Metformin?
What are your reservations about using insulin? There are Type2s here who use insulin and I hope they will post their experiences.
Morning Cherakee I am stage 3 Kidney desease and have a pacemaker I was taken off.metformin for a while but I am obese so my doctor put me back on it.At the moment things are settled.

He belives that everybody has this personal fat threshold, and if you lose enough weight compared to your personal fat threshold, you can reverse your diabetes.

Here is the thread of somebody doing the diet, and he has updated his sugars for each day. Look at the numbers, he got undiabetic numbers from day 6 on the diet!

I spend five or six months of the year on the continent , driving a vehicle in excess of 3.5 ton , not HGV, and as I understand it being Insulin dependant seriously compromises your license and insurance.
GP says that other alternative medications would need to be discussed with a Consultant, and there is a long waiting list !!!
