Hi there, I'm Emily. I'm 21 and have had type 1 diabetes since i was 10. For the last 11 years i have been on Novorapid and levermir insulin. My blood sugar levels have been quite high for a couple of years so my doctor has entered me into a clinical trail to test a new insulin called SIBA (Soluble Insulin Basal Analogue) a new type of long acting insulin which is supposed to reduce blood sugar levels. So far it is working very well and my levels have gone back to normal and i am having alot more hypos.
Found this forum and thought it would be nice to chat to other people who have diabetes.

Hello Emily. Hope you find this forum useful. I have and I only joined last week.

Interesting about your new insulin; sounds like you are in process of getting dosage right, it's a bore, isn't it? Hypos can be terrible things, you can do yourself some bad damage when you're having them though not so risky if you have someone around.

Hopefully this new insulin will be a breakthrough

Hello, Yes it's a pain trying to get it right. Luckily i live with my boyfriend and my parents so their is always someone around when i have a hypo and i feel the symptoms quite early as well.
This new insulin seems to be making a big difference as my levels used to be around 15/16 most of the day and i have so much energy now, i used to be tired all the time! It'll be interesting to see what my HbA1c will be, the last one was 9.9!
