It was the opposite for me. I practically stopped eating till I could get an idea of what raises my BG. The near blindness only really lasted a couple of days.take it slower with cutting the carbs...it was too big of a shock with the sudden drop in BG
Oh my.. four months!! How long did it take you to come down to normal BG levels? Ive Im up on 1 week with Metsformin+strict LCHF and have at the lowest had 6.3 before supper. After meals Im usually around 8.5 wich is acceptable. It's taken four months for mine to get better. Don't give up it feels like it will never end but it will. Keep getting your levels down and it will soon adjust. Good luck.

Never underestimate the coward factor.
I kind of did too.. saw no reason to prolong it.I went cold turkey, total fear was my motivator

This is all so new to me and it is a bit frustrating even if I almost cried when I had 6.3 tonight before supper.
Oh.. really? Im getting very confused over thisT2 or DT2 = type 2 diabetic, you will get use to the shorthand, there is a link for all of them on the site somewhere
6.3 was ok it was the 8.5 that was no good

Three weeks, that means that Im doing quite good with the food changes then since my BG at all times are below 9 since a couple of days. However, I cant understand why my fasting BG in the morning is up on around 8.5 when my premeal at night has been down around 6.5 at night two nights in a row. Shouldnt the morning BG be lower as I havent eaten in at least 8 hours?Mija
it will take 3 weeks for the metformin to work and 3 months for max effect. metformin gives a reduction in your A1c of 1.5% [old scale] or convert to new scale as a number
you can't do much about your premeal number, other than wait for it to come down through diet and exercise and metformin.
you are in control of your 2hr post meal number by how many carbs you eat. less carbs=less rise.... less rise is good, the goal is to keep it under 8 at 2hr,
your post meal numbers will effect your premeal numbers over time, keep it low and it will lower your premeal and your A1c score
I try to keep it under 8 @ 1hr and under 7 @ 2hr...as per the link I gave you, but infact I seldom see over 7 or 8 ... My postmeal 1 and 2 hr BG is normally under 7
Very true. Im trying to hold on to my changes in diet, and to take my meds as I should. When I feel that I have this under controle, then it is time to look at other changes, like exercise.Mija. Don't forget your body is undergoing huge changes. Don't try or expect everything to happen quickly. Slow and steady often wins the race.
Everyone is different, all you can do is read, read, read and pick out the bits that you can work with for you and get on with it.
Don't feel put off by perfect results. No one is perfect.
I got the shakes at 6 then 5 now I know. I feel funny at 4 but it's just my body slowly coming to adjustment.
Had a few 3 s last week, felt horrible as going hypo but it's all a learning curve.
Good luck. X
I didn't know that. I will however read up on it. Feels like Im glued to the computer right now trying to learn all about this. I seldom have carbs for breakfast, usually only scrambled eggs and bacon with lots of butter. Everything will become a bit more tricky this week however, as we are going to stay at my parents and celebrate midsummer, Swedens biggest holliday besides Christmas. And as we all know, hollidays are a lot about food..your liver dumps 'sugar' of a morning google dawn phenomenon
don't have carbs at breakfast, only lunch and tea
you are doing everything right, give yourself a month
