hello Everyone
I am a diagnosed type 2 diabetes a weeks ago during my annual physical. I was immediately put on medication as my doctor said my numbers were too high. I am still floored and alot shaken from the diagnosis. I am now trying to learn all I can in order to prolong my life. The thing is I am not doing so well, I have no idea what I am supposed to eat/ not eat, because of it I am in a constant state of bewilderment which is why I am so glad I came across your lovely forum. I have read a few interesting/educational posts already. Hope you are all ok with me joining you all x

Hi Makaa and welcome to the forum You will get lots of advice on here about what you can eat from members who will tell you about their own experiences with food. You need to work out what you can eat by testing before and 2 hours after meals (the numbers need to be similar) to see what effect each food has on your levels as it is different for everybody. I hope they have given you a testing kit so you can do this. Ask as many questions as you like as there is usually someone who will have an answer for you.

Here, in case you didn't already see it, is some information written for new members and it will help you to feel less confused and to get started on the management of your diabetes.

Hello! I'm only diagnosed a few months ago and you're right there's so much information here. As for being OK about joining us anybody who don't welcome you is a fool-as you learn you'll be able to help us too. It is bewildering but just simple common sense gets good results it's not a great hinderance really
