I was recently diagnosed with T1.5 LADA and put on insulin straight away. I also have to record my bg levels four times a day plus extra tests before driving. The meter I was given takes a cassette with 50 tests which means I'm basically ordering a prescription for a new cassette once a week. Will this continue until I'm no more? Or will I be able to test less often later?

That sounds like an Accu Chek Mobile meter, which is what I use. The replacement cassettes are hugely expensive if bought retail. I imagine the NHS buys them cheaper than that.

As you are on insulin you will always be prescribed replacements but you may find your surgery changes the meter to a cheaper one in due course. Don't worry, they will always provide you with testing strips, although you may find that they may try to reduce the frequency.
