Hi all
I am new to the site and have was diagnosed over a year ago but had gestational diabetes a year before that also my father is type two so I knew this may come to me. I am 37 yr old mother of four so eating sensibly is something I take day by day.

I started on metformin For the first year but at every three month blood check I was on the rise. They now tell me they think I am a slider and on my way to type 1?? I now take novarapid with meals and lantus at night as well as the metformin.
I lost three stone and went to a very healthy weight until I started the insulin , I am now slowly gaining the weight back! Is this normal?... I seem to have lost all of the control I previously had. I now crave surgery foods whereas before I never had a sweet tooth????

Would appreciate it if I heard from any other sliders as to if this has happened to them?

I think I am also entering a denial stage, this comes and goes with me.

My bloods are 5-9 on waking and 6-11 per meal with the odd 16 or so thrown in.

Hi Suzanne and welcome to the forum The insulin might explain your weight gain. You need to look after yourself as well as possible so you can take the least insulin necessary. Here is some good general advice for new members which might help you to gain more control of your levels. Ask any questions you need to and someone is sure to be able to help you.
