Hi All, My name is Madeleine, I'm 68, still working as a Yoga teacher and bodywork therapist. I was diagnosed with LADA just over 12 years ago, bit of a shock as there had never been any kind of diabetes in the family. I was put on Levemir and Novo Rapid, initially 6 units of Levemir nightly and NovoRapid at mealtimes. I followed a lowish carb diet, never more than 50 carbs per meal, often less, and so my use of NovoRapid has been fairly minimal, generally 1 unit for every 10 carbs. It all went like clockwork until recently, I had figured out how many extra carbs I needed with exercise etc. and my blood sugar levels were very predictable and the regular blood tests showed I was well in range.

Fast forward to Summer 21, I noticed that the 6 units of Levemir was no longer enough, so raised it to 8 which seemed to do the trick. Then intermittently I began getting unexpected lows and highs, even though I hadn't altered my regime in any way (metabolic changes I guess, interestingly my blood pressure went haywire around the same time, and all this was a short while after the Covid vaccines - coincidence? Who knows!). As time has moved on I appear to have lost a lot of control over my blood sugar, it's low or high randomly when I would expect it to be otherwise. I've changed over to new pens, tried controlling diet even more strictly, but all to no avail.

Have others experienced this? I'm currently waiting to get an appointment with a consultant with a view to finding out if I can have a Real Time CGM, I think I'm right in that it's only the Libra 3 that will send alerts directly to your phone without the need to swipe. I feel that's what I need, as during the night my glucose levels can go either way unexpectedly, and I either wake with a really low level in the early hours, I can be as low as 1.8 - 2.5, or I check when I wake in the morning to discover I'm up at 15 - it's crazy. Do others on this forum have a Libra 3 or Dexcom - has it been helpful?

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks All, and have a good day
