hello everyone
i was diagnosed a year ago but was told i was diet only.i then had a test done 6 months ago and was told i was sugar intolerant, since then i have lost two stone cut down on my beer intake and went for a blood test just before christmas.it took nearly a month to see the nurse who has now put me on metformin 500mg twice a day.my hbn1(sorry if thats wrong) was 12.5 she said. i have been reading some of your experainces and ive got to say mine is poor.when first diagnosed the doctor gave me a scrap off paper with diabetes uk website on it and when the nurse gave me the tablets i was told to come back in 12 weeks for a blood test. 5 or 6 days after taking metformin my eye sight has got twice as bad as it was in 24 hours.i have found some information saying this can happen and was wondering if my eye sight will improve back or is there another form of medication that will solve this.i have had a bit of stomach pain and the metal taste as well but i can live with this.i am thinking about going to see my doctor again and wondered wether to go see my optician or wether to wait.i have just passed my hgv test and im trying to find some work and although my longrange sight is good my close vision is twice as bad as it was.i have brought a accuchek compact plus a few days ago before i found this forum as im trying to positively manage my diabetes and ive not had much help from the doctors
