Hi I'm Sandra and I have type 2 diabetes since March this year. I am very confused as to which advice to follow, my doctor insists that I eat lots of starchy foods and plenty of fruit. I am on 3 metformin timed release a day and awaiting results tomorrow to see if he is going to increase this. I have lost two stone through eating a healthy diet no sweets cakes or chocolate my last Hc1 test was 8. Would welcome any advise.

Many thanks

Hi Sandra and welcome to the forum
Contrary to the advice you have received to eat plenty of starchy carbs, we find the best results, namely the good control of BG levels, is obtained by eating much less carby foods. Have you been given a testing kit ? It is important to test, even if they don't encourage you to, to work out which foods you can eat. Here is some advice we give to new members which should help you. Ask all the questions you need to and someone will answer.

Very happy today had my bloods results back HbA1c 6.5 fasting 4.5 and cholesterol 3.6 so no increase in my meds. Going to try and cut down on carbs and see how it goes
