im not even sure yet to be honest my doc is a bit thick to be polite about it lol, she reckoned a fasting reading of 7.0 was ok but on realising her mistake she has taken more bloods to send to the lab as she now agrees its a little high,, Ive been testing myself at home recently and tend to get reading of 6.8-7.3 in mornings generally after not eating for 10 hrs prior to testing, i have t1 and t2 in my close family as well as most of the general symptoms,, my brother is considered t2 with lower readings than myself, though he spikes to 11+ with the lucozade test,, im still waiting on this to be carried out on myself..Feel like I have to force the answers out of my doc and go down with lists of bgl reading to make her sit up and take note hopefully get a diganosis soon but in the mean time I thought I would seek advice from people who actually know what they are talking about rather than my 20 something year old doc who seems to know nohing about nothing

its quite normal for medical professionals to be completely in the dark about diabetes, but if i ever need a timer for a task that takes 10 minutes ill know exactly who to ask  try testing 2 hours post eating and see what you get

Hello and welcome,
Do you have a different dr you could see, just to help you with this, it might be helpful...

Best wishes Kat

Hi Andy, I have tested 2 hrs post meal (snacks really as Ive been full of the cold so havent been eating big portions) and I range between 6.6 - 8.4 post meal,

Kat I saw a locum this morn who agreed with me that 7.0 is too high for someone that hasnt ate in 12 hrs, so once these repeat bloods are back I will endevour to see another doc in the practice.

my gran, aunty, uncle and my half bother are type 2, and another aunt and uncle are type 2 insulin dep, hence the reason I bought myself a monitor to test at home so I cold ram the results down my docs neck and make them take note, I didnt believe the first doc when she said my results were normal,, as not only was 7mmol/l quite high for a 12 hrs fast I also display alot of the symptoms, tiredness irratibilty, over whelming thirst, up during the night peeing, vomit bile in the morning for no apparent reason, bad joints and cant put weight on to save myself regardless of what I eat with all these signs I was very reluctant to accept the 1st docs opinion so began testing myself and forced the results down the locums neck,, she agreed to run more bloods so fingers crossed someone takes note now,
