I am leaving this forum....the advice you guys all give is against what my nurse and diabetes websites say.....too confused so am out of here.....getting the feeling all I am allowed to eat is a carrot!
@kimbo1962 has given a really comprehensive list of foods which most of us eat to keep our energy levels good and which lower our blood sugars and weight. I know its different to the advice given out by most GP's and nurses in this country, but this is a busy forum with a lot of success stories from T1 and T2 diabetics who all manage their condition effectively and who are generous with their support and encouragement
Please take time to read everything, especially the personal success stories
Where is the list pls? 80 year old newly t2 after heart surgery eating massive buffet of white pizza pastry at family party on Saturday said to my horrifd look OK as nurse said no sugar and he had no cake... Diabetic workshop really helping him... Not. This forum rocks!
By all means put your faith in your dietician and proceed with the plan you have put together. If it works out and you control your sugars effectively we will all be happy with your success.
However what the people on here are telling you is that should you find it difficult to control your levels through the high carb diet route advocated by the NHS, there are alternative approaches you can try and that people on this site have found to work for them.
So stay away from this forum for now if you prefer but come back at any time you should feel the need to explore alternative ways of gaining control of your sugars.
Breakfast is bacon, egg, mushrooms, I eat lots of meat, cheese, fish, never hungry. Latest hba1c has shown a drop from 61 to 38 in my short 18 weeks, with a 3st 3lbs weight loss. Please take some time to read and absorb, everyone here is in the same boat and proof that if we were just left to the nhs we would not get the improvements we do!
Thanks, pretty much Atkins then! ... If I could not grow it, track it down or kill it myself I'm not going to eat it! I h2ad bacon and eggs this morning hardly any increase in mmol/l at all. GF pasta had me well over 11 2 hours later.
