high sugar will make you tired and sleep..as well as depression.
I think you are doing the right thing in seeing the Dr, the other thing you could do is go on a low carb diet to get your blood glucose down. the site @Scandichic gave you is very good.
I have just been diagnosed as T2. They told me to cut down on sugar and carbs look after my feet and see you in 3 months. I bought a blood glucose meter and took my first reading last night. 8.6 before eating then 17.6 after 2 hours.
What can I do and is this difference normal
Hi @nick449 Welcome to the Forum. You've come to the right place. Pretty much the same numbers I had first week after diagnosis. What did you eat and drink?. You will be surprised at what foods have the biggest impact on your BS levels. Fellow members will tell you everyones reaction to certain foods will be unique to them. However, generally high carb foods will give you a high blood sugar spike. Some would say a spike shouldn't be more than a difference of 2.00. Someone will be along soon to tell you what the levels should be before a meal and what they should be two hours after a meal. Within a month i changed my diet and exercise regime and am now within normal Blood Sugar levels most of the time. However, I have to watch what I eat all the time. Good LUCK
there are carbs in lot's of things, cream is better than milk in your coffee, because it has less lactose[sugar]
if you stay away from the main carbs like grain=rice etc, grain product =bread pasta etc starch veg=potato, corn etc and of course sugary stuff including fruit and juice for a while..this should bring you blood glucose down fairly quickly.
eat lots of other veg and salad, normal amout of protein meat fish etc and lots of real butter and olive oil
