Newly Diagnosed Type 2 - head in a spin

I don't know how you keep track of what you are eating but there is a free programme called "My Fitness Pal" which I have found very useful. Counts all your carbs, fat and protein for you and has all the supermarkets and brands. Just put it into a search engine. It also has some great menu ideas - especially low carb ones. Good luck.

No problems at all

I've been recommended the hairy bikers diet books by a guy that's got type2 and has lost just over 4 stone in 12 months

Not read them yet but hopefully try the chicken korma this weekend (low carb off course)

That sounds NICE!

Hi, when I was diagnosed I started reading Patrick Holfords book on reversing diabetes, which concentrates on a Low GI diet with Chromium, Cinnulin PF and many other supplements. I started the Low Gi diet with 800mg of Chromium & 600 mg of Cinnulin PF. It said that it would take 6 months for the Chromium & Cinnulin to get into my system and have its full effect. Initially I did see a drop in BG levels but only slight, readings after meals going from 12's to 10's. After about 2 months of this I switched to a low carb diet, but still carried on with the supplements. Four months after that I had another hba1C test which came back at 5.5 (original test was 7.9). By this time I had been taking the supplements for 5months. I'm not sure if the supplements played a part in the better result or not. I'm still taking them though, just in case. They don't make me feel ill in any way.
