I have been on Metformin for 3 months now, firstly I tried normal Metformin but made me sick, stomach pains, and bad runs. Apparently levothyroxine can raise your blood sugar levels, so for this reason I was put on Metformin slow release, and I space my other medication out. My blood test has come down it was 48 now 42, but my liver function test is not right, I'm still taking 1000 Metformin, told to do urine test and further blood test in 2weeks. I'm uncertain if this is good news or not.

Congrats on getting your HbA1c result down to 42, that's brilliant. Only 1 point away from the non diabetic range.

I think if your doctor thought Metformin was doing harm to your liver they would have asked you to stop taking it pending the further blood test. If they thought your LFTs were really bad, they would have said so and they would have referred you for an ultrasound or biopsy. So, try not to worry in that regard. Often an abnormal blood test is repeated, to make sure the result is accurate. The urine test might just be to give a clearer picture of what's going on. If your LFT is slightly elevated, it might be relatively easy to bring it back to normal. I'm not very familiar with what it means, but I know there are a range of things that can cause this result, and often they are medications. I'm sure things will be clearer when you get the next result. Don't be afraid to ask for an explanation from your doctor.
