Good Morning everyone, wondered if you can help. I am type 2 diabetic. I am currently taking metformin, forxiga and have a weekly injection of Trulicity. I dont have any problems with any of these, after the intitial side effects of newly starting them. They keep my sugars at a good level. Currently around 7 for my three monthly checks. I have never been able to take statins or any other related lowering cholesterol medication. I was referred to our local Lipid Clinic who prescribed a new drug (so new my GP refused to prescribe it) called Nilemdo a bempedoic acid treatment. I take 180 mg per day. I started taking these on the 24th August and all seemed fine with none of the normal side effects I get from cholesterol medication. Last Friday morning I started with horrendous diarrhoea and it hasnt stopped since. I went to see an out of hours doctor who nothing about the new drug, but decided I had gastroenteritis. Oh and I also noticed that my sugar levels have greatly increased since starting this medication, which I told wasnt possible! but they definetly have. I guess it might be, but just thought I would ask if anyone else is on the same diabetic medication and this type of cholesterol control and if they had had any similar symptoms. A search on google doesnt help as it seems its so new to the market. Thanks for any help you can give me.
