Topsec,
My husband is only one one Met per day too. When he was first diagnosed it was one per day to start with, to be put up to two after the first two weeks. When he went back to see the GP she was very impressed with his low BG levels that she said not to up the Met to two per day. The next day was his appointment with the SDN and she was not impressed at the GP's decision one bit, she said she wanted him 'maxed out' on Met and Statins. We could see no reason for this at the time as MH's levels were dropping daily, controlled by diet.
I think we're lucky in that the GP seems to be of the school of thought that says don't take any meds you don't need to take. Neither of them agree with low carbing and, although the GP has admitted that it's obviously working, she's still concerned that MH's diet isn't 'balanced'.
We'll see what the GP says tomorrow. I know MH wants to continue with testing as we are still relatively new to diabetes and finding out what foods do and don't agree with him, plus I think he feels more reassured knowing that his levels are good and he's in control (a huge turn around from five or so weeks ago)
