Non absorbtion

I have now been a type 1 for over 35 years since I was late teens. I reckon I have had over 50,00 injections. I am now on a pump which is great…..but….I am having insulin absorption issues. I keep trying different areas for the cannula and some work, some don’t. Unfortunately or fortunately I am quite slim, so some areas aren’t really good for the cannula.I keep fit and usually run up to 10k a week.

Has anyone else had the same problems and what have you done?

Worst is if the insulin doesn’t absorb properly at night and I go high, then as soon as I start moving about I come crashing down !

I don't use a pump and have been on insulin a much shorter time period than you. Dr Bernstein prefers MDI rather than a pump, with issues such as scare tissue causing poor/inconsistent insulin absorption - so people having to revert to MDI after a time period. I guess if you can't resolve your issues you might want to consider reverting to MDI. Sorry I can't be of more help
