Hi I've been to the nurse this morning and my hbA1c is 51 down from the high 80s last year. I'm so pleased also lost 3 stone in 3 years, took the scenic route.

I have to get it down more because i am at a preconception clinic and it needs to be 43 but I've heard about some new guidelines that says it can be 48 now. I'll find out in Jan when the next appointment is.

Well done, you are getting there. try a few less carbs in your meals and you may make it by January! Good luck.

Hi, Not sure, I know enough to answer you completely, but my hbA1c was 46 and I was classed as diabetic by 1, according to my doctor in September this years, but to get that drop so far as large as this is excellent and there is no reason to stop at 43 either the lower the better.
Good luck

I've been cutting most carbs out i just have 1 small slice of wholemeal bread a day. I'll have to try that burgen bread that others have tried. Have any of you tried it?

That's a great reduction, well done and best wishes for the new year

Have you checked how many carbs per slice your loaf has? It will say on the wrapping. Burgen has 12g carbs per slice. Hovis Seed Sensations Wholemeal has 14g per slice. I know which I prefer - the Hovis!

Thanks everyone.

It's morrisons small 400g wholemeal loaf. It's 11g per slice. But i can only have one slice because last time i had a bacon butties with 2 slices i was 10.5 an hour later. I have to test after an hour because of the preconception.

Hi

I don't think I'll be in normal range now the amount of food I've eaten this Christmas I've tried to stick to normal it just didn't work. I'm dreading my preconception clinic on the 12 th Jan. Got to get back onto it on Monday.
