I just injected my novorapid without priming it, i usually see a small amount of residue after injecting but this time i didnt so im worried it didnt go in. I ate 60g of carbs with 6 units of insulin.

Im new to T1D so what do i do?

don’t inject the dose again, monitor your blood glucose over the next 3 hours, and act accordingly.

If not sure, monitor with a meter after meal and if spike too much after 2 or 3 hour do a correction bolus.Do not do the mistake of not sure and inject again because it can cause hypo.

Thanks, what should my BS look like after 2-3 hours to be normal?

@olster . We've all done this. As above, monitor your bs levels over the coming hours.
You say you're new to diabetes, if you know how to do correction doses then do a correction dose if necessary.
If you're unsure of how to perform a correction dose it may be wise to ride it out and get back on track tomorrow.
Remember novorapid can take 3 hours to fully work in some cases, depending on food eaten, and can still be active in your system for up to 5 hrs. Don't make hasty decisions.
Good luck, post again if we can help more.

Thank you, i get back to you if i need more help

if your bg are not massively raised it probably went in minus the 2 units.. dont worry i dont think your going to suffer if you have missed it. you will learn to do it routinely. as others have said its dead easily done.

And to add it most certainly would be better to have missed it than to have a severe hypo.

My BG is at 7.4 2 hours after my meal so guess it went in

Hey that sounds good.
Not priming or doing an air shot will not mean you don't get insulin but it will possibly mean you will not get the full dose.
I usually dial in 2 units on my pen and get a spray of insulin ( unless it's a new vial, usually about 4x2 air shots )
Everything sounds good for you, chill out and enjoy Christmas.

Have a great Christmas
