so first let me say hello.

I have been lurking this forum since early november when I was diagnosed with T2 with an hba1c of over 100.

i was a carb monster... sometimes upto 400g per day ! so bad with hindsight.

but no more. since reading this forum, I have followed the low carb advice... bought a meter...started on metformin 4x500mg... and cut down on the booze.

i'm not really following the nhs diet advice. low carbs and not worrying about fat. plenty of raw/unprocessed food.

seems to be working. losing 2lb a week

so thanks for the forum and the info. it is invaluable

i also take vit b and magnesium. not sure if they are helping

Hi Snowmonkey,
Well done for losing weight, and for committing to a new way of eating.
Were you getting symptoms of diabetes?
Take care

Hello and welcome to the forum. We are all wise in hindsight, mustn't blame yourself though as our western diet is still considered the norm. Well done on your great start, I look forward to hearing about your progress.

sure....thirst that never stopped...peeing in the night...tingling fingers...and the odd urgent nap.... all symptoms

hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I'm a bit overweight. but not hugely so.

my main problem was the volume of carbs.

funny, but I think we all have a personal carb tolerance and by lightening the load (eating fewer carbs) my blood glucose is now under control

hi, welcome to the forum. hindsight ... hmm, if i had a penny for every pound of chocolate and pastry i've eaten over the last forty years, i'd make Bill Gates look like a pauper .... you're not alone in having had bad habits in the past!!!
