today my fasting number at 5am was 7.1 still high but lower than what it was 3 weeks ago (8.7) before breakfast it was 6.3 (walked 3 miles ) I ate a bacon sandwich with bugens soya and linseed bread and 2 hours later it was 8.7 I realise this bit high so should I cut bacon sandwich to half bacon sandwich . Thanks for any advice

I'd cut out the bread and add an egg to the bacon in your position (assuming you are Type 2 and not on any blood glucose lowering medication apart from metformin). Try that for a couple of days and see how it goes.

This is going to sound weird but I found that tinkering with the egg to meat ratio worked for me. So when I have breakfast fry up it looks like this: one sausage, two rashers and two fried eggs. And that gives me just the consistency of egg to meat so I don't need the Burgen.

Burgen is lovely, though!

Thanks for replies. Been having the egg bacon etc and then went on to half bacon sandwich . Thought 2 pieces bread was too much so will go back to one and add an egg. Thanks for confirming what I thought was best

I would probably do the same as bulkbiker but before giving up on the bacon sandwich I would test it again without the 3 mile walk. Sometimes exercise can cause glucose levels to rise so that could be contributing to your 8.7 reading

Am type 2 and been on 500 mg metformin for ten days. Been low carb diet for 3 weeks. Got average numbers down from the 9s to 7s and lost 7lb so going right direction
