Morning everyone,

I have been told by the nurse to drink loads of water before my fasting blood test.
I am going for this at 8.30 this morning ,is this information correct please.?
It does not sound right to me, she said it helps the veins easier to find. :eh: roblem:

hmm I was told not to eat or drink anything before a fasting test because even water can affect the result. What time does your surgery open? Would you be able to phone them first thing to check?

I was told that fasting is fasting but not sure anymore after what she said about the water.
surgery opens 8.30 am and trying to get through is manic. may just not drink but mouth gets so dry that my tongue sticks to my teeth. may just gargle perhaps. thanks for your reply
carole :?

Water is fine if for a fasting cholesterol test, as the nurse quite rightly says if you don't drink you become dehydrated and this narrows the veins and makes blood extraction difficult.

Thanks noblehead having a glass as we speak. I stand corrected with my doubts.
