Hi I am Jo and I have been type 1 diabetic since I was 21 - that is now 25 years ago.
My 14 year old daughter has been off her breakfast this week - strange as she has ALWAYS loved her breakfast! (Usually quite a healthy plain wheat breakfast with a little honey and skimmed milk) I put it down to a teenage thing but she's most insistent that it isn't her trying to diet and that she felt sick. Appetite the rest of the day has been sporadic. Nothing a conclude on its own but tonight she said "I need a drink. I don't know why I'm so thirsty all of a sudden!" (She has never drank enough in my opinion - always had to remind her) This was a big surprise but then it has been hot and humid today and she does forget to drink. Then the bells started ringing. I have had Type 1 since I was 21 and I think she said that her father, who is grossly overweight has type 2 (we're divorced)
I tested her at 20:05 as she ate and her reading was 8.5. She had not had anything since lunch at 13:30.
Luckily at 21:00 when I retested, it had gone down to 7.7.
Am I right to be concerned?
Thanks - I think I'll do a reading in the morning as she says she has felt sick at every breakfast this week. It has come on suddenly this week so I'll do a few more readings tomorrow then it's off to the docs we go! (Poor kid she's petrified of needles - took 10 mins before she'd do the fingerprick test)

I think each of the 3 things on their own aren't anything to worry about. In fact I had put it down to a boy that I thought she was mooning over lol but as I said in my initial post, for her to say she's thirsty then she must be! She has also been very down and lethargic in the mornings. Fingers crossed for tomorrow and thanks for the comments
