Not about DM but provides another reason for dietary supplements as well as eating fish etc. perhaps.
Omega-3s Reduce Stroke Severity, Study Suggests
Professor Calon believes that this anti-inflammatory effect is likely transferable to humans. "Since DHA is readily available, inexpensive, and reduces the risk of a number of health problems without causing significant side effects, the risk-benefit ratio tends to favor the regular consumption of fish or DHA," he concluded.

Encouraging news Jim!

Hi Cowboyjim, I'm far from being any kind of expert when it comes to food supplements or diet in general, but i have been pushing the benefits of Omega 3 fish oil for years now & have all but gained the reputation of being some kind of nut! lol I’ve been taking 5x 1000mg omega 3 fish oil capsules for years now & my blood has the viscosity of water! When i prick my finger to get blood to do a BG test, the drop of blood tends to just run out & drip on the floor if I'm not careful! lol Omega 3 also has properties in it which has been scientifically proven to dissolve cluster build up in you arteries, which are the main cause of stroke! The eyes of a diabetic are usually damaged by micro-clusters, which are much the same as the clusters which cause stroke & so with that in mind omega 3 fish oil must be helping to protect the eyes of a diabetic too! The NHS in the UK still seems to be 10 years behind in the most basic teaching about diabetes, compared to say the USA! My young nephew who was recently diagnosed with having type one has year to see a dietitian, 2 years on! The information is out there, all we need to do is piece it all together & hope the scientific community catches up to prove our findings to be correct! haha

Thanks Jimmy... time to get on those capsules methinks! Logically if we reduced viscosity we could reduce blood pressure so I am interested tho all those pills will cost me. I like fish too so... 8)
