Metfornin does help to reduce your blood sugar levels. It is also supposed to help with weight loss, and strengthen your heart.
It is quite a good medication. If you are overweight or have high blood sugar level it will probably be beneficial for you.
You can also try to control your T2 and weight by diet and exercise. A lot of people on here have done that by adopting a Low Carbohydrate High Fat (LCHF) approach to eating.
You should ask your GP surgery for your HbA1c figures as you need to know where you are starting from.
It is up to you whether you take meds or not, but people on here say Metfornin did help them. If you can lower your HbA1c you can ask your GP to lower or stop the Metfornin when you achieve lower figures (and weight).
