Just caved for the first time since being diagnosed and destroyed a KFC!!

I feel guilty but so satisfied all at the same time!

Will report figures later, was 5.0 before

Not so bad as I thought at 9, higher than I'd like and definitely higher than normal!

no need to feel guilty, just carb count and take the correct amount insulin.

Thankyou @Alasdair I have been feeling terrible all day for my lack of self control! BS now fine and I'm rejuvenating with a green tea!

no need for the guilt, it only feeds any head stuff going on..a new day tomorrow and back to it
are you getting enough fats?
For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. they don’t give up easy

Yeah I'm normally ok, I'm low ish carb as I've only been diagnosed 6 weeks so just kinda learning what works for me, I'm doing around 100g carbs a day which is way less than I was used to and trying to get my head around swapping back to full fat versions which I have avoided for years!

Does low carb work for you? What's a good carb level to aim for?

Thanks jack412, I did a 3 hour and up to 10.2 so a little correction was in order and I'm back to a good level now! Pesky things those carbs hehe

It's a marathon not a sprint. We've all done it. Tomorrow's another day! Hugsxxx

KFC isn't too bad! Get the chicken pieces (no burger, no chips) and not that many carbs

Thankyou scandichic I'll be back to normal with my evening meal, I shouldn't be so greedy haha! I love my food and cooking so when I'm on it I'm loving finding new things to eat Nice to hear I'm not alone xxx

Hehe Emmotha I had everything! I don't know what came over me! Thanks for the tip hun xx

I'm glad you caught it..high carb and high fat will spike later
with 100g of carb a day, you need the full fat stuff to replace the lost energy,
you could use a food counter to see what your intake is, but I go by cold, tired and cravings = eat more fat

I use the carbs and cals app at the moment and record everything on there, my average fat intake is normally around 70g. I've no idea if that's the right level?? What do you think?

70g of fat is 630 calories
100g carb is 400 calories
60g protein is 240 cal
about 1300 cal is rapid weight loss, no wonder the KFC was calling your name
google fat bombs and bulletproof coffee
fats and protein are essential nutrients, carbs are optional

I did a 1200 calorie low fat diet, which worked very well.
As jack says. the 70g of fat is a lot of the calories, for very little substance.

You need to find a diet that is sustainable.
Both me and jack are type 2, so it may be best to listen to other type 1's though.

Blimey thanks for that I had no idea! Don't really want to be loosing weight as I'm still trying to put on what I'd lost pre diagnosis!

Thanks for your help guys it's been really helpful

if your BG is normally ok, the easiest way to put on weight is increase your carbs, but BG control comes first and more protein will also add weight,

I'll maybe try that then until I get back to normal!

Thanks so much

Type 1 is different to type 2
I'm sure other T1's can help with carb counting etc,
