I am a male with diabetes type 1 i have been diabetic for the past 13 years of my life i am currently 23 and unemployed and i am wondering whilst i am looking for work asides from the job seekers allowance what kind if any other benefits could i claim?

Depends what disabilities you have that prevent you from working, or wife/partner/children that may be a consideration in any claim. If you are asking does diabetes in itself qualify you, the answer is no. Only symptoms that arise as a result but in this day and age, you would have to be pretty disabled in order to get anything.

True I was told I could claim PIP with being diabetic (type 1) even though I work. Had the interview etc and was marked on each question...... ie can I answer the phone by myself, can I dress myself, am I able to cook food etc without help. Well all of these I am able to do.... Yes I have diabetes but I am not unable to do things. So there for I got a big fat 0 for each question answered so was not awarded PIP. This did not bother me but what confuses me is why put me through for PIP but bcos I am able to do everything on my own got turned down. I hope to be able to everything for a lot of years to come, I don't want my diabetes to rule me I rule my diabetes. So I suppose depending on how you are with diabetes is wether you can claim for PIP
