Hi all. I’m 51 and type 1 for 44 years. Also hypothyroid, epileptic and coeliac. I work as the school librarian in a big secondary and on Wednesday the deputy head told me to go and work from home as I’m on his ‘dangerous list.’ I’m not ill ( yet ) and am staying in. As I’m sending work to kids, is it sick pay I’ll have as I’m trying to work from home ? My contract says 4 months full pay for sickness. The government said tonight that ‘everyone’ will get 80% of their wage ? The school is still open for key kids with a smaller amount of staff who are still well. I’m really confused ? I’ve asked the school but they never reply

They probably haven’t replied because they don’t know themselves yet.

The announcement was only made a few hours ago, on a Friday afternoon, on the last day of school. I expect they will let you know as soon as they understand the ramifications themselves.

I got in contact with the hr team at my workplace and they reassured me I would get authorised paid leave which means il get paid my contract hours. I did decide to stay of work as your health is everything. I’m also a type 1 diabetic, coeliac and have high blood pressure. If your contact states you’ll get full sick pay then they have to stand by it as far as I’m aware.
