Just ask if they'd like to look after you when you go blind or have a foot amputated?
Show them some pictures of amputated feet ... might help to get the message across?

I do the cooking so every one in my household eats low carb most of the rime mind you both my wife and daughter are prediabetic and my grandson 99% of the time eats keto and is stricter than us where carbs are concerned so there is no problem .
