Please explain: calibration using ISIG

changed cannula this morning after a calibration. same usual morning calibration

got to work and 14.0 so replaced cannula assuming it hadn't settled right (hadn't eaten anything bar a couple of black coffees)

bolused to correct

pump said enter BG to continue AM

BG said 8.4

now got 4u on board and pump said calibration not accepted. god knows why.

I've seen people mention a calibration method using ISIG figures but neither my medtronic contacts of my specialist has even explained this method so figure, I can't mess this thing up any worse today.

If someone can explain what to do, and explain why it's a better way than usual, crack on.

I am close to quitting work for the day and going for a beer. It's only 1040am!
 
@aphex2k did you calibrate when asked for BG to remain in auto mode? If so, apparently you're not supposed to. To remain in auto mode, you just enter BG.

Last week Medtronic told me that if the ISIG number changes by more than 1.5 within 10 minutes, it's unstable, so don't calibrate. That's fine if you have the time, but we don't always have it. He also said the optimum ISIG is between 6 and 200.
The next thing I'm not sure about. I think he said if BG divided by ISIG is less than 0.15 or greater than 0.45 then don't calibrate. I don't know about you, but the last thing I feel like doing is getting out my calculator every time I want to calibrate.

I only tend to calibrate 3x per day and I don't usually do it if it's wildly high I'll wait until the correction dose gets me closer to normal range. Since re-activating this sensor it seems to be OK and my BG's are close to CGM. Even had a unicorn 7.4 last night. This bloody diabetes does my nut sometimes.
