I recently attended a podiatry appointment as a type 2 diabetic. A very embarrased Podiatrist informed me she had to discharge me from annual check ups and in future I would have to make my own appointment if I had a problem and I would have to pay £25. She informed me that Podiatry now had to make a profit. I wrote to my M.P. several weeks ago about this matter but as yet no reply. Yesterday Tuesday 22 April 2014 on breakfast television there was a piece about the Governments concerns as to the amount of unnecessary diabetic amputations. The Governments target is to halve this number but admits to a post code lottery. If you have experienced the same problem I urge you to write to your local M.P. and complain.

I don't have trouble getting appointments here in S Wales. At the end of every one the nurse makes me another appointment for about 3/4 months time. I can even choose where I want to have my appointment, at the hospital or a clinic run in a Community Hall. Now feeling privilidged !!! I do hope nothing changes there

I'm on the waiting list here in West Yorkshire, but not sure how long it will take. I think it's a very short sighted view :-( Surely it's more important to look after your feet before there are problems - would save money in the long term.
