Hi

Thought it was time to introduce myself formally as I registered on the site about 2-3wks ago.

I'm a 39yr old (almost 40) female, overweight with high blood pressure (177/90) and my Mother is a type 2 diabetic (and I think her Mother was an undiagnosed diabetic).

Due to feeling unwell for several weeks with symptoms inc. extreme tiredness, dizziness, feeling hot and "shaky" at times I had a fasting blood test in early Oct. This came came back at 7.7. I then made some pretty drastic changes to my diet - I reduced salt & fat intake, cut out and reduced sugar and also reduced carbs and I'm eating more fruit, veg, wholemeal produce, white meats and fish (I don't eat lamb or beef anyway).

I have just had the results of my 2nd fasting blood test and it's come down to 6.3. So, I now need to see and make an appointment with the diabetic nurse specialist at the surgery.

I'm led to believe I may have pre-diabetes so hope I can lower my BG levels further with a sensible diet and gradually lose weight as well. I've so far managed to lose 9lb over the last 3-4wks and feel a bit better for it.

Any advice is very welcome

Hi Tigerlily and welcome to the forum Although you have not been diagnosed diabetic and seem to be pre-diabetic, this information may be useful to you and following it could help prevent you from progressing to full diabetes. Diet is particularly important. Ask as many questions as you like as there is always someone here to help.
